The Winter Olympics have got us in the mood to get lace up our skates and hit the ice. We may not be doing any triple axles out there, but its hard to find a better way to cure winter madness by getting outside and doing some skating. As luck would have it, Washington, DC has plenty of great public rinks and some of them with a great view. We’ve got your round up of the best of the best here.
National Gallery of Art Skating Rink
Located on the National Mall across the street from the National Archives in the Sculpture Garden belonging to the National Gallery of Art, this rink probably has the coolest location. And, Pavilion located just off the ice is the perfect place to warm up in between short routine practices. Find more info about it here, or check out the quick facts below:

Washington Harbor Ice Rink
This Georgetown hotspot, is our choice for the perfect date night skating. Theres lights, music, a great atmosphere and some awesome restaurants nearby. Farmers, Fishers and Bakers is just off the ice and features a great fire pit to warm up with one of their legendary cocktails, signature sushi, or really anything on their menu. Right across the rink is Nick’s Riverside Grille. Totally redone in 2012, with a new interior and a new menu you can’t go wrong ordering anything here. Pentagon Row Ice Skate Rink
The Pentagon Row Skate Rink is back after some great renovations. Tons of parking, located right next door the Pentagon City Mall and surrounded by dozens of other great shops, this is the go to rink when you need a shopping day mixed in with a little extra fun. Find more detes here and here:

Silver Spring Ice Skating at Veterans Plaza
Maybe Maryland is a little more your style. In which case the town of Silver Spring has a huge rink and tons of attractions worth checking out. The Veterans Plaza features a huge rink next to the Mall. And, once you’ve tired yourself out on the ice, step over to the historic Silver Theater.
