Galleria Vittorio Emanuele
This beautiful 19th century indoor shopping gallery is Italy’s oldest of its kind. First opened in 1877, it was designed to shroud the wealthy from inclement weather, and allow them to peruse luxury brands in style. The vibe hasn’t changed much today; haute couture, fine dining restaurants, and speciality brands dominate the marble hallways.
A stroll through the galleria is a must-do during any visit to Milan. The iron & glass roof are stunning, as are the ornate hallways and marble floors. Much of the roof was renovated after destruction caused by World War II, and the entire Galleria was given a facelift in 2015.
