Our Garden District and Cemetery Bike tour is the perfect excursion for those wanting to explore the Big Easy away from the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street and the Mardi Gras atmosphere. Whether you’re new to the city and are looking for a unique experience, or you frequent NOLA and are looking for a fun way to see spots off the beaten path, this is the tour for you!

We will begin our journey by picking up our comfortable city bikes at our conveniently located office and rolling under the shade of hundreds of live oak trees that line the streets of the Garden District. We will see breathtaking, historic mansions along the way and stop to provide the stories of the famous inhabitents along with anecdotes, photo opportunities, and unbelieveable tales of wealth, cultural clashes, and longstanding feuds. You guide will also touch on the communities that crafted these amazing homes and how their heritage is celebrated today. There are plenty of hidden gems in New Orleans, and our guides will share all of the secrets as we cruise along so that you can come back later to continue exploring on your own. There is something for everyone – families, couples, kids, and those seeking to experience the famous New Orleans nightlife.

As we roll along, you’ll notice the change in scenary and the colorful homes of the Irish Channel, the neighborhood restaurants, and local po-boy shops. This often-overlooked neighborhood is not to be missed! We’ll continue on to Magazine Street providing recommendations for the best addresses to eat, shop, and enjoy New Orleans later on.

Our guides will weave the full New Orleans story together upon arriving at the St. Joseph’s cemetary, where we will have some time to hop off of the bikes and hop back into history. We’ll stroll around the cemetary for a few minutes, stopping to touch on some of the famous gravesites and recount the stories that made these men and women famous in New Orleans. You’ll learn why our cemeteries are known as “cities of the dead” and you’ll come to appreciate these sacred areas for more than final resting places.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tour departure time in order to complete the necessary paperwork. Each member of your party will be required to complete and sign a liability waiver form. Minors under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian to complete their paperwork.

Questions About our Bikes/Biking in New Orleans

Is this tour appropriate for children?

In general, our tours are great for kids 8 years of age and older.

For children up to 12 years old or 100lbs (45kg), we have 2 wheeled tandem trailers. The passenger sits on a seat and can pedal or coast. All riders over 100lbs (45kg) must ride their own bicycle. We have various smaller sized mountain bikes for those able to ride on their own.

We do not have any adult tricycles or bikes with training wheels for adults that may be less confident in their riding ability. Please let us know if you would like one of our tandems, trailers, baby seats, or child bikes in advance that you’d like to reserve either a child seat or trailer.

Important Note: All child bikes use hand brakes, there are no pedal brakes available.

Is a helmet included? Do I have to wear a helmet?

While helmets are not required in the city of New Orleans we will provide you with one and encourage you to use it.

We’re happy to offer free changes and 100% refund up to 24 hours before tour* Failure to cancel a reservation at least 24 hours prior to scheduled departure may result in forfeited travel funds. Fare difference may apply.

What is your weather policy?

All of our tours operate rain or shine, and we have rain ponchos available in our office for purchase.

Is water included?

Yes! We will include a small water bottle for every rider, but we encourage you to bring along extra water as New Orleans gets hot!

How should I dress?

Comfortable clothes are recommended, and there is no need to wear full biking gear. Please dress for the weather and be prepared to be in the sun. Closed toed shoes are highly recommended.

It also gets very, very hot in New Orleans, so we recommend bringing an extra water bottle along.
