How Will Coronavirus Affect Future Travel Behavior?
Despite recent headlines and growing levels of uncertainty, our staff gives a fresh perspective and a reminder of the beauty of travel.
“I think that the idea of public health is always evolving. Certainly the standards of health will be forever changed because of the COVID19 pandemic. It will be imperative that businesses evolve alongside those standards. Throughout it all though, I cannot imagine a world where people are not interested in travel. The way they travel and their expectations towards public health will evolve, but people will still travel and value exciting and new experiences.” – Jack Louis | President
“I think the shared comfort and closeness we get from working directly with people will permanently change to accommodate caution in the face of potential future epidemics. No more sweaty hugs after Versailles, no more high fives after an awesome tour. Many more customers will be wearing masks and thus be harder to read. I hope that travel will become a higher priority in many people’s minds and experience a boom as people attempt to collect memories of places eagerly before the opportunities vanish again.” Simon | European Director of Human Resources

“Actually I’m not sure of what is going to happen, but I think that the first ones who will travel again will be locals (i.e. Italians for Italy) and people who travel for business. I also think that a big trend will be the virtual tourism.” – Mirella | Milan City Manager
“I think there will be two groups of people…those that can’t wait to get back on a plane and are dreaming of their trips now. Being confined makes the anticipation even greater. Then there are those who might be more cautious and wait to plan to see what changes are being made. They might want more assurance that safety measures are in place.” – Kelsey | Paris Customer Service Manager

“I fear that people won’t want to be in so many crowded groups or tight spaces, like at concerts or on planes. I hope that people will realize that their once-in-a-lifetime trip should be planned and taken, because opportunity is fleeting!” – Sadie | Director of Project Management
“I hope that people will realize that life is short and fragile and there are no guarantees that you will make it to the perfect time to schedule your dream holiday. I hope those that want to experience these cities will make it happen sooner rather than later. And that they will join us for a bike tour :)” – Liam | Italy General Manager
“I think that people will be much more aware of the impact they have as travelers. They will hopefully be greener in their actions and realize that travel is a luxury, when you visit somewhere you should treat it with as much care as you do your own home. They will also hopefully live in the moment a bit more and not view everything through the lens of a camera.” – Jamie | London General Manager
“Moving forward, I think the world will be more interested in seeing the world in a way that allows them to be outside in the fresh air with open space, and not confined in cramped spaces with massive groups. Perfect for small group bike tours!” – Preston | Director of European Operations
